Which is Better: Twitter or Facebook

Assessing the relative worth of Twitter and Facebook is no easy task. Both sites excel”exceedingly so”at what they set out to do. Twitter offers users a clean and efficient way to keep up with your friends; Facebook offers a higher degree of multimedia functionality. At the end of the day, it really comes down to what you’re looking for.

Most people should consider maintaining accounts on both sites. Twitter is a place for your odd, random thoughts; Facebook is a place to post and organize your pictures, watch movies, play games, and the like. Both sites are going to offer the addictive status updates that you’re looking for, with Facebook skewing more towards the multimedia end of the spectrum.

Businesses, on the other hand, should focus on Facebook if they’re looking for direct marketing opportunities. While Twitter is a powerful tool for building an audience and directing that traffic towards your domains, Facebook lets you buy ads. Likewise, Facebook gives you access to an ocean of information regarding the spending habits of your consumers. Twitter can, in the hands of a professional, send viewers towards your products, services, and affiliates, but there’s nothing built into the system”at least at this point in time”that lets you take out targeted ad space.
