One of the things that you can do that will cause you to lose followers is to never tweet. No one wants to follow a person who never has anything to say. On the other hand, if you tweet 100 times per day, then you may also lose followers. People do not want to constantly be updated on another person’s every move.

You may also lose followers if you constantly post pessimistic things. Most people do not want to follow someone who is very negative. Additionally, you may lose followers if you tweet things that people find boring and mundane. Today, I went to class. After class, I came home and took a nap. I did laundry after my nap. Those are examples of tweets that people may find boring.

Many people use Twitter to promote their business. However, if you try to sell your products to your followers, then they may unfollow you.

Ever heard of an alternate reality game? An alternate reality game, or an ARG, is typically an interactive form of advertising that relies upon the user to make choices that somehow impact the outcome of a game. The alternate reality aspect comes in because it relies on players to do things in the real world to impact a fictional thing; a movie release, book release, TV show, etc.

You might have played one and you might have even thought about making one of your own: “I have access to wireless internet providers and I’ve got a great idea!” And that’s usually how it starts. Take, for instance, a scenario in which you have a book. Depending on what the book is about, you have many different routes you could go. You could create a twitter account for the fictional protagonist in your story and have users get to know this character, and the role they will play in the narrative, before the book is even released. If it’s interesting and intriguing enough, your character could have a following by the time the book is released.

And there are many other ways you can use twitter for this purpose. Have fun and play around with it.

Twitter has become one of the most popular social networking sites on the internet, and it has millions of people who flock to it everyday. As with most of the other social networking sites, the goal of a person using Twitter is to get as many followers as possible so that they can expose them to their thoughts.

A lot of people have been drawn to this incredible networking site because of how easy it is to use and the amount of people that they can touch. Many businesses have also started using Twitter to get more exposure, and attract more customers. Regardless of why people want to do it, it’s extremely important for people to get as many people to follow them as possible. The more successful they are at attracting and keeping followers, the more successful their marketing efforts are likely to be.

Since gaining followers on Twitter is so important, a lot of people have developed different methods of drawing people in, and keeping them around. When it comes to getting people to follow a Twitter account, one of the most important things is to have interesting things to tweet about. No one wants to follow a person who just posts boring tweets that are of little relevance or importance, and lack any entertainment value. People who are able to keep the attention of their followers will be able to keep them from un-following them.

Some of the things that people have to do in order to get and keep followers have to do with the things that they actually do on the Twitter website. Interacting with other users is one of the best ways to get people interested, and wanting to know more. Social networking on the internet is a lot like networking in real life. People have to make sure that they take the time to introduce themselves to other users on the site who they may share similar interests with.

Twitter followers can be a very finicky crowd. Some will want you to be a high frequency poster and others may want a sparse amount of updates. Consistency, however, is one of the keys to building a proper audience. If you are a very opinionated person, do not pander to more popular views. While this could potentially bring in bursts of new followers, it will hurt your consistency and result in many displeased older ones. It’s better to just stick to what you’re best at.

Unless you are the funniest person alive, it’s unlikely you’re churning out comedy or entertainment gold 10 times an hour. Many users will end up unfollowing you for essentially spamming and annoying them. It can be a bit tricky finding that equilibrium; just experiment with different posting frequencies until you find a good rhythm.

Staying current is probably the most important thing you can do. The trending topics are a good tool for listening to the average audience. And twitter is a fast paced social media site that is very unforgiving to yesterday’s news.

Lastly, you have to respond to a few comments a day. If you ignore your audience completely, you will lose them. The information doesn’t stop now. Keep looking: Why I may have been wrong about Facebook

Although there is no set guide lines or rules to follow when setting up your twitter account, there are certain themes which individuals with the most followers on the site seem to have in common. If you are not a celebrity, or someone who is constantly in the news and media, you must find alternate methods of getting people to follow you on your twitter account. Here are some tips to getting the most followers and to optimizing your twitter account.

First, do not simply post “I am sitting at home.” When making a post on twitter make it something interesting and funny. People don’t want to read about your boring life, they want to know what is going on in the world around you; post interesting things that people will want to read.

Next, ask your friends to follow you, and get their friends to follow you. In other words, network. To get the most followers you have to know people; the more people you know, and the more people that the people you know, know, the more followers you will gain.

Although there is no right or wrong way to be successful on twitter; posting funny topics and networking are two ways to get followers.

Assessing the relative worth of Twitter and Facebook is no easy task. Both sites excel”exceedingly so”at what they set out to do. Twitter offers users a clean and efficient way to keep up with your friends; Facebook offers a higher degree of multimedia functionality. At the end of the day, it really comes down to what you’re looking for.

Most people should consider maintaining accounts on both sites. Twitter is a place for your odd, random thoughts; Facebook is a place to post and organize your pictures, watch movies, play games, and the like. Both sites are going to offer the addictive status updates that you’re looking for, with Facebook skewing more towards the multimedia end of the spectrum.

Businesses, on the other hand, should focus on Facebook if they’re looking for direct marketing opportunities. While Twitter is a powerful tool for building an audience and directing that traffic towards your domains, Facebook lets you buy ads. Likewise, Facebook gives you access to an ocean of information regarding the spending habits of your consumers. Twitter can, in the hands of a professional, send viewers towards your products, services, and affiliates, but there’s nothing built into the system”at least at this point in time”that lets you take out targeted ad space.

Twitter is probably the most inexpensive and effective marketing tool for small businesses right now. However, to maximize Twitter’s potential, you need to know how to use it and how to use it properly. The keyword in social media is “social.” No one enjoys pre-scheduled spammy tweets that magically appear on your Twitter homepage every hour on the hour without fail. They can border on annoying and obnoxious and are a sure-fire way to become unfollowed. The goal is to engage your followers, not bombard them with useless information and sales pitches.

The best way to self promote without setting off your tweeps spam radars is to offer content that is interesting to them. They are following you for a reason, capitalize on that reason and give them something they want to read. For instance, if you are selling natural supplements, research the latest developments in that category and share them with your tweeps. Better yet, develop a blog about it and tweet those posts. Keep the content fresh and engage them in conversation about the topic via Twitter. There is a reason it’s called “social media” not “sales media.” By doing this, you become the person that they identify as being a natural supplement expert, thus keeping you connected to the products you sell.
